Daljit S. Nirman is President of Nirman’s Law Professional Corporation, a Barrister & Solicitor in the Province of Ontario and teaches courses in institutes of repute, both in Canada and India, in the areas of Law and Management. His practice areas include Immigration, International, Corporate, Commercial and Property Law.  He is also licensed to practice law in India. His law firm has affiliated offices in India and UAE. In 2000, he received an offer to be appointed as Civil Administrative Officer for United Nations (UN) Peacekeeping Mission; however, he turned down this position.

Daljit brings with him over 22 years of legal experience and has advised a range of individuals, partnerships, developers, corporate clients, non-government entities on litigation, corporate governance regulation, business regulation including shareholders agreements, leases, franchise agreements, joint-venture agreements and on the implementation of particular compliance programs with applicable regulatory reporting and disclosure requirements and restrictions on an ongoing basis. He has successfully handled multi-million dollar transactions for his clients. Moreover, Daljit is a strong advocate of alternate dispute resolution and views it as a foundation for much of his practice.

Daljit holds professional membership in the Canadian Bar Association; County of Carleton Law Association; Ontario Bar Association; Indian Law Institute; and Bar Council of Delhi, India.  He also is a founding President of the South-Asian Bar Association of Ottawa and former director of the North-American South Asian Bar Association.  He also volunteers his time and resources to a few cultural and religious organizations in Canada.  Daljit is also a director of Ottawa Community Immigrant Services Organization and sit on the advisory boards of various corporations and non-profit organizations. He is also a life patron of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.

Daljit is regular writer and his articles, which touch fundamental legal issues of interest, are published in various law journals and newspapers both in Canada and India.  He authored a book entitled Reference Book for Disciplinary Proceedings – Procedures. His book is intended for the benefit of employers and employees in the Indian Financial and Banking sector. It has been well acclaimed by the national press, employers, employees and senior bureaucrats in India.  It has also been accepted for reference at the libraries of both the University of Ottawa and Carleton University.

Daljit has also written two guides Plain Language Guide for Unjust Dismissal Adjudicators and Plain Language Guide for Wage Recovery Referee Proceedings for the benefit of non-unionized federal government employees employed in the Canadian Industry.  The guides are intended to assist the workers who do not have legal representation and shall be presenting their own matters before adjudicators and referees appointed by the government.

During his association with one of the premier and largest financial institution in India, Daljit provided advice in connection with the establishment and/or acquisition of financial services entities and compliance with the increasing volume of legislation, regulations, guidelines and regulatory practices that applies to respective clients, their products and services and their distribution networks.

Daljit is active in community affairs and  has to his credit ground breaking case against Indian Air Lines (now Air India) setting precedent for the first time whereby all Airlines in India will be held responsible for any delays (with very few exceptions) and have to pay compensation to all passengers for their actions.

Daljit holds his Master of Laws and Bachelor of Laws (Equivalency) from the University of Ottawa, and Bachelor of Science in Physics; Bachelor of Laws; post-graduate diplomas specialized in Labour Laws; International Laws; and Laws of International Institution from the University of Delhi.
